Appeal Court Affirms Nollywood Actress, 5-year Jail Term: On Friday the Court of Appeal sited in Lagos, has dismissed an appeal of Ibinabo Fiberesima a Nollywood actress regarding a jail term sentence given to her by the Lagos High Court. The State High Court sentence the actress Ibinabo five years imprisonment by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi due to reckless driving which led to the death of a hospital staff.
The actress Ibinabo Fiberesima was alleged to have been driven recklessly at the Lekki-Epe Expressway and she then knocked down Giwa Surej, a man who is said to be working at Lagos state’s hospital. The case which was first taken to A Magistrate court fine the appellant N100,000 fine. When the case was taken to the state High Court, the case was replaced by jail term.
The High Court which have given Fiberesima a jail term of five year was not happy with the ruling of the State High Court and she then took the case to Court of Appeal through her lawyer, Mr Nnaemeka Amaechina. Applying that the court to over rule the decision of the State High Court but the five-year sentence remains.
