COMMUNITIES IN BAYELSA VOW TO CLOSE SHELL’S OPERATION
Communities In Bayelsa Vow To Close Shell’s Operation: The SPDC which is the Shell Petroleum Development Company have been threaten by the communities in Bayelsa that they will shut down the operation due to the relationship between the company and the communities in question.
The communities who held a meeting sad that the Shell operation in their community is going against the agreement they sign before they entered the community and the agreement is called implementation of General Memorandum of Understanding, which is GMoU
In their words they will be protest against the shell operation and also any oil company in their communities stating that the surveillance contracts that the company should sign that the company didn’t not sign it and they should reduce the the contract to 9 months instead of the 12months.
In their meeting they agreed that the SDPC which is the Shell Petroleum Development Company, should pay every payment starting from the implementation of General Memorandum of Understanding, down to the current tranches which will also include the late tranches along the defaulters fees and they should pay the peace bonus.
In their statement they released that the SPDC that is the Shell Petroleum Development Company refused to give chance to the communities contractors to take part in the job stream, despite that they are a lot of contract been activated in their communities on a daily bases such as food and catering services, boats crew, servicing and shuttling vessels, waste management, take off and mooring vessels and a lot more
the communities chairman said that will be unacceptable and that the Shell Petroleum Development Company SPDC should the salaries of the workers in surveillance of the community, from the month of September down to December 2015. adding that the Shell Petroleum Development Company SPDC has not arrive in a way of employing their youth as either a worker or even a contract staff.
